My first exposure to porn came by way of 3 VHS tapes. Many of which are still exist. Mentioning Jerry Butler to many seasoned porn veterans is like discussing gay marriage at conservative Christian banquet for American preservation. Something that just should not be done.
From insipid rants of name calling to facial expressions that rival his own in performance, only this time you know it’s not ecstasy, just full on hate. Even from some of the nicest starlets, many whom he dated, or even lived with speak of him in the most unflattering tones.

Having read the book I didn’t really get what the entire buzz was about. My thoughts on the book are that it is a truly great read. Fan or not you should enjoy it. And if you’re too scared to purchase it face to face or through Amazon try Ebay. (No one will know.)

A few comments I found really should have made a couple of people want to kill him. Here are a few:

“Fucking Bunny Bleu is like fucking Bobo the Clown.”

“Siobhan Hunter looks like Ray Bolger in drag.”

“Honey (Wilder) has a very distinct voice, which sounds like a horn being blown backwards or a duck getting fucked through the beak.”

That’s just a drop in the bucket. But if you think the book is all industry dish, it is not. Most of it is about his life. Growing up in Brooklyn and letting a boy touch his “pee-pee” when he was about 4. His first time with a prostitute when he was a teen. It took less than a minute and he came; she hit him and walked away. His love of hockey and trying out for the New York Rangers.

Training under actor James Beard at the beginning of what was to be his “legitimate” acting career before he made his way to porn. His marriage to former actress (Wednesday Addams from the Addam’s Family sitcom) Lisa Loring, and his kid Thomas that, in the book he states that he hasn’t seen since he was 12 months of age.

If you are unaware, well before he wrote the book, he was rumored to have been in a gay relationship with (actually several men, but one director in particular) Chuck Vincent.



In the book, Jerry Butler states that early in his career many gay men in the N.Y. Theater community propositioned him for sex. Even a casting director for “One Life to Live”. He swears he disliked the attention, but admits in the book that he sucked a guy’s dick for a part once:

“Michael was still horny. He told me he’d send me out on auditions and manage my career if I’d be “nice” to him. What the hell could I do? I went to bed with him that night, and I sucked his damned cock. It was ridiculous, and it was terrible. When he went down on me, I had to fantasize that he was a woman.”

He also talks of a scene he did with a transsexual in Despicable Dames:

“Although I was attracted to this he/she, who had the face of a pretty Spanish woman and nice round little tits, when the director asked if I’d let the he/she suck my dick, I refused. But I did let the he/she touch my nipples. I may act like a homosexual for a role, but I’ve never done any homosexual act on camera. I’ve been accused of it many times. As I’ve said before, if a guy can show me concrete evidence, there’s $1,000.00 in it for him--plus a blow job from me.”

Other odd things are a story of a night in a hotel room with a starlet who fucks him in the ass with the handle of a hairbrush and another on stimulating himself when the women don’t turn him on, he describes rubbing his anus on the heel of a girl while filming a scene to stay hard.

It’s an interesting read from an interesting man. Pick if up if you can.

As for where Jerry is today, last I read he is a paranoid bus driver in Brooklyn, who is raising a kid. No word on weather it’s his first or he has another one, or is raising it with/for someone else. The article is here.
