Marc Wallice

Not quite the traditional "hunk", Marc Wallice was always a favorite of mine. I first saw him in a compilation VHS about with an interracial theme. The very first scene was Marc with Ebony Ayes in an interview scenario. They had passionate, sweaty sex on top of the cheesy porn set office desk. Marc's features are again, not the traditional standard of sexy, the pointy nose, thin pinched face, and severely angular cheek bones and jaw line sound quite atrocious, but pull together very well with the brilliant smile, expressive eyes, toned and lithe body, and that U-shaped pointy wang.

Born October 3, 1959, Marc Wallice quit his job at age 21 to enter the porn industry. Like many (most, some would say) before him, he used the gay route as a way into the business. Escorting was the most accessible way of using your body to make money. It is here where Marc began is career of magazine pictorials and video loops that wouldn't live past the year they were made. Some gay, some straight. Marc worked steadily throughout 1981 and 1982 finding stardom by 1983 and becoming an industry regular. The perfect "Go to" guy that all companies look for.

Never known for his acting skills (but who other than Jamie Gillis is?) he was usually given as little dialog as possible until his star power made him a consistent lead in many of his almost 1500 titles. What he lacked in theatrical skill, he more than made up with his sexual prowess. The passion seen in the eyes of most of his co-stars was real. Most women that worked with him had only praise and admiration for him. And the never-ending horn shaped erection was truly a sight to behold.

During the late 80's Marc developed a drug habit, and struggled with it in different degrees of difficulty from around 1985-1996. Late 1996 Marc cleaned up his act. After a third DUI charge (2 are felonious) he was forced into a rehab center for several months. Drugs behind him he poured himself back into his never fledgling career. He began his series Tails of Perversity for Elegant Angel. Not his first directing job, but probably his best. The series was super successful and spawned many others like Tom Byron to take to the directing helm.

All things appeared to be on the up & up. For a not so young man now in the sea of burgeoning new male talent from the likes of Julian, Brandon Iron, Vince Voyeur, among others, Marc never longed for work. He was still in high demand, and still in great shape. Performing as hard and horn-shaped as ever. All was well, until April 30, 1998. It was announced that Marc Wallice as HIV+. He was fingered as "Patient Zero" in a string of infections that the heterosexual porn industry felt they were immune. (Cause, to an idiot, this only can happen to gay people and minorities.)

This subsequently brought Marc's 18-year career to a screeching halt. Ending what was once one of the least controversial (in the industry at least, not the highway's), and celebrated names in the business. He would later be quoted as saying, "I used to be a big, famous star. Now I'm nobody."

In the days after his status broke, Marc has admitted that he took all of his money out of his bank account, and checked into a hotel (allegedly with hookers) and smoked crack cocaine for a month straight. In the coming weeks Marc was allegedly kidnapped by a group of thugs who wanted him to withdraw all of the money from his bank account, unaware of his earlier actions. Marc was able to whisper for help to the clerk behind the counter who quickly notified the police. All of the thugs were arrested, and Marc himself was arrested for possession for narcotics.

Having had a career sans issue, it was very sad to see the speculation that was aimed at Mr. Wallice and at the gay community at large from the heterosexual industry. It is rumored that Marc new he was HIV+ and faked a test to continue working in the industry. If true, not only is this revolting, it is a felonious act termed Assault with a deadly weapon. Marc claims his innocence and no charges were filed against him. Other rumors are that Ms. Sharon Mitchell allowed him through without a test, as the two were old druggie buddies back in the day. Ms. Mitchell as denied such claims. Either way, the situation has absolutely no happy ending.

In the coming weeks of the scandal, the industry laid blame to the gay lifestyle for Marc's HIV infection. Going out of its way to point the finger at his gay porn past that had magically never been discussed by the masses before. It was known to many in the business long enough, but never caused any problems for Marc. But in light of his infection, became the main point of discussion. Even Ms. Mitchell made a few snide remarks referring to Mr. Wallice as being bisexual. Shifting the blame from not simply a disease that is spread through unprotected sexual contact among other means, but on a lifestyle that apparently magically creates it.

Again, Marc's gay career never really made much news. It wasnÂ’t boasted about, and like many other male stars he was prone to many anti-gay on the set jokes. Many, behind the back of occasional friend Peter North. Mr. North's gay career remains the most discussed in the industry. Oddly the only gay movie Mr. North admits to doing is one called A Matter Of Size, in which he portrays a straight fantasy for a gay male, posing and jacking off in front of the guy but not letting him touch much. This is also the only video I know of where Mr. Wallice takes it in the ass, specifically from a guy. One a few photo series exist of him being penetrated by women or men. One by a man in a bisexual 3-way, another with a man in a tuxedo, and a solo with a dildo that looks like an ancient corn cob, but this is the only movie where he has that form or contact. Correct me if I'm wrong.

All heartbreaking drama aside, it is still sad to see a man I had such celebrity feelings for end his career like this. Second only to Tony "Chuck" Martino, Mr. Wallice was my first man crush. I've never seen him in an unflattering light until the happenings of 1998 and it's been hard not to cringe ever since. For all that he may or may not have done, to see people who were his alleged friends turn against him and try to tear him down was not a pretty sight.

I wish him well.
